Phyllis Davis, Founder and Director, American Business Etiquette Trainers Association

“Global cultures are fascinated with American business and how it is conducted. To many people, American business practices seem shrouded in mystery because it’s information that’s not available outside of America’s corporate cultures. It’s not offered as course curriculum even in the finest schools or universities, and the only way one can learn it is by deep exposure to business on the top rungs of successful companies.

While working with thousands of worldwide companies, I have heard the same comments and questions over and over again from executives in companies outside the US, “Teach me how to do business like the Americans do. I want to be a success too.” After working in more than 40 countries, I’ve developed the most cutting-edge communication and rapport skills available in the business world today.

Remember, business etiquette is not social etiquette. What are the differences? Social etiquette is based on the values and norms of a group, so people can relax and enjoy themselves within certain parameters in that group. Business etiquette is a set of easily learned skills and behaviors for building trust with customers and it is part of a company’s image and culture.” – Phyllis Davis, CEO, American Business Etiquette Trainers Association (ABETA)

Projected Fees for Training and Speaking

woman speakAlthough ABETA makes no guarantees regarding expectations to receive the fees mentioned below, if a trainer has the speaking talent and the marketing abilities to promote themselves to train, speak and coach on the topic of American Business Etiquette using American Business Etiquette Trainers Association’s content in its 21-modules, the fees stated below are fair and standard industry fees a certified Etiquette Experts may expect to receive in the majority of major cities around the world.

  • Corporate Training fees vary depending on size of group, half-day or full-day or multiple day trainings. Average training fees range from $500 to $5,000 per half day; a half day is generally 3 ½ hours of training. An average rate for corporate training is generally in the range of $500 per half day. The more successful you become, continue to raise your rates until your training rates are $10,000 per day.
  • Etiquette Coaching is either on the phone (almost all coaching is conducted over the phone) or in person. Since coaching is an intense process, coaching sessions are less than 60 minutes whether they are on the phone or in person. Fees range from $50 to $200 per session (less than 60 minutes). An average rate per coaching session is seldom less than $100 per session. The more successful you become, continue to raise your rates until companies or individuals pay you $500.00 per hour (or the current going rate).
  • Keynote Addresses at a conference or convention are generally less than 60 minutes in length and you can expect to receive between $250.00 to $5,000 per keynote address. An average fee rate for a keynote address is seldom less than $500 per keynote address. And, in most cases you may sell your books, tapes or videos in the back of the room after you speak which can result in enormous sales. The more successful you become, continue to raise your rates until Program pay you between $2,500 and $10,000 per keynote address and allow you to sell your books and CD’s in the back of the room. You may make your own CD’s, pamphlets, books, video or audio tapes using all the ABETA™ materials. The majority of all speakers in the world today make their largest income right after they speak, in back room sales. I know many speakers who sell thousands of dollars in additional materials after speaking. The more variety of information you offer on your sales table, the more they’ll buy, and the more you can expect to make.

Additional Services Available – Same Day at Same Event:

  • Master or Mistress of Ceremony: $500 to $1,500 per event
  • Panel Participant: $250 to $500 per event
  • Panel Moderator: $500 to $750 per event
  • Panel Facilitator and Breakout Speaker: $250 to $500 per event

Your ABETA certification puts you in the position of being a recognized expert to become a global resource for the media (television, radio and print) as an etiquette expert. It also puts you in front of key executives, top-level people in management positions and those who want to better themselves for success.

If you would like to receive Executive Coaching from Phyllis Davis to learn how to market your etiquette consulting practice, the marketing/coaching fee is an additional $500.00 for 3 one-hour, over-the-phone, coaching sessions generally held a few days apart.

man trainerWhat Can You Do The Day After You Receive Your ABETACertification?

  • Offer your services as a corporate trainer to small and large groups within companies, organizations, association groups, schools, state and federal agencies, governments, and even churches.
  • Speak or offer to deliver a keynote address to companies for meetings, corporate retreats, conventions, and conferences, etc.
  • Offer to speak for groups or offer a keynote address for non-corporate groups, nonprofit groups and conferences. Associations, professional groups and clubs such as Rotary International, schools, and universities, don’t pay well (if at all), but decision makers are often in the room and they can hire you on the spot for top fees to train their companies or departments. These no/low fee speaking assignments are generally around 20 to 40-minutes in length, and you will always make great contacts. In fact, generally, the group organizers may invite you to have lunch with them as their guest on the day you speak. Granted the food is always very average fare (typically chicken and vegetables), but I’ve met some very influential people during that lunch that made it worth my while.
  • Create a consulting practice as an Etiquette Coach: One-on-one personal sessions with a client in person or, on the phone (coaching sessions are less than 90 minutes). Often times, employees are ‘sentenced’ to etiquette coaching because an employee has rough edges (poor dresser, poor communication skills, difficulty with other associates, can’t close a deal, etc.).
